Back to Crazy Horse Buttress, Thailand

I’m back from a short rock climbing trip to Crazy Horse Buttress outside Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand. I’ve been a few times now and it’s one of my favourite places. Luckily, it’s pretty quick and easy to get to for a weekend from Hong Kong. It’s satisfying to go back and be able to do routes that proved too challenging (physically or mentally) on previous trips.

    • If you like sport climbing it’s well worth a visit. Doesn’t get the same attention or crowds as Railay in Southern Thailand but it’s the pick for mine.

  2. Hi!

I’m going to Crazy Horse in November. I love climbing chimneys! Can you tell me the route you were on in the photo of you in the chimney?

    • Hi Jean, it’s called “The Chimney Sweep” (6a) and is in the Tamarind Village area at Crazy Horse which is one of the areas to the right from the main car park /huts area. About a 5-10 min walk. It’s a lot of fun!
