Manly Beach

Surfers enjoying the first glimpse of late afternoon sun after two rainy days in Sydney.

The next instalment in my beach series – Manly Beach is not only one of the most famous beaches in Sydney, it is also among my favourites.

The beach itself comprises three areas, each with it’s own surf club – running south to north: Manly, North Steyne and Queenscliff.

I’ve been a member of Manly Life Saving Club for more than 15 years and spent many years doing surf patrols and competing in surf life saving carnivals with the club.

The beach is always alive with people surfing, sun baking or exercising on the corso that runs along it’s length. In about a week’s time the beach will also play host to the Hurley Australian Open of Surfing.

The pictures below are taken in the southern corner, with the Manly Life Saving Club in the corner of the beach.

  1. Whenever I visit Sydney I always make an effort to take the Manly Ferry from Circular Quay to enjoy the Harbour. Then, once off the ferry at Manly,I walked across the shopping precinct as quickly as I can and then I am on that wonderful Manly Beach. Lucky you for having years of pleasure there.

  2. So this is how it looks of Manly beach during day time, I got a chance to visit this but its almost night time, which means I was at the beach on it’s silent time, the only thing I was able to do was just walk along the side of the beach but unable to appreciate how beautiful it is when there is sun 🙂 maybe next time if I had a chance
